Making Sound to Video – Connections

Well without even realizing it – Bernie and I got a step up on this weeks digital skills work!

We decided to take the audio from a few weeks back and put it into video form – so now we have the next iteration. You would think we had our ducks in a row and wrote, recorded, and then visualized as part of a grand plan. If that’s what you think – terrific! Go with that – it makes us look good.

Truth is, it was a natural evolution and worked. We learned a little more about iMovie instead of other tools because here at the FairyTale festival we need to be mobile and not sure where we will be working so it has to be done on our laptop. We may get to grander desktop productions, but that might need to wait until we are back in the midwest and snowed in this winter. Which makes me wonder why we come to Texas in the heat of the summer and stay in Wisconsin in the cold of the winter. We may need to see if the family wants to try a winter retreat!

This is a story of connections. DS106 and the Ed Administrator.

Open sharing and connections are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They are the everyday simple acts of kindness and reaching out that together make wealth in life. Sometimes they become the awesome out of this world-never thought it could happen events, but mostly it is the true enrichment of the small touches that together add up.

We hope you enjoy the story in video form. In the Assignment bank of ds106 it is  VideoAssignments, VideoAssignments1638

Heron and the Hummingbird

Bernie and I have been reading some of the Native American FairyTales during our lunch breaks. They are nice in length for a good story in a short time.

One of the ones we read was the Heron and the Hummingbird. It very much reminded us of the Tortise and the Hare tale.

Since we are working on making GIFs during this week of stories – this tale was also a favorite as I had painted a heron and hummingbird just a month or two ago. So taking one photo and turning it into a GIF was the challenge to meet.

We Can’t All Be Jim Groom – the Fairy Tale

Bernie and I were trying to figure out how to tackle Hans Christian Anderson and writing week. The stories do not remind us at all of Danny Kaye and the slapstick and singing.

As a young girl Bernie would have Rocky and Bullwinkle tuned in on the TV for me to watch – so “Fractured Fairy tales” were always a favorite. It might have been the twist of humor or the current day references in the fairy tale format that grabbed us.

We had thought of trying to tell a Fairy Tale from the point of view of another character much as has been done with The 3 Little Pigs and the Wolf’s story.

Did we mention – writing things like stories that are not based on experience, news releases or documentation, was one of the areas that doesn’t come easy?  – – -So from that memory of fractured fairy tales and taking things we knew about and expanding on them to create a story,  the fairy tale of the DS106 and the Ed Administrator aka- We can’t All be Jim Groom came to be. It may not be along the lines of most of the festival – but for a night on the porch of something a little different – hope you enjoy.

We also pushed ourselves a little as the PR department has been pretty much visual and print so far, so we did a reading of the story.

We  did work with Flip Builder Pro and created a Flip book that links to the media. Not too many bells and whistles, but a start on learning the features of the tool.  We are going to have to check in with NanaLou’s grand daughter, Rochelle on how to get the flip book shared – we have been running into some technical hiccups.

Another Boo? x7!

Multiply Photo

Population is on the rise again in Bovine County due to the FairyTale Festival. Cousin Ron hinted at possible out of this world visitors – but as I was out photographing for the PR team I was able to capture evidence of a funny little fellow named Boo! He was quick and I had to shoot fast and furious because I wanted to make sure I caught him. He moves so quickly that most people can’t see him with normal vision. I thought using the camera at a higher speed and rapid fire might capture him.

Wow was I surprised when I not only captured him in a photograph -but also in several places. I could not see him with just my eyes – but the camera has shown he was there!

Here is a time lapse of the photos – he moves quickly!

GNOME-ANIMATION

Since this method worked in proving that the wee folk do exist-  I wonder if Cousin Ron or Anna Cow might use the same method to find out if there really are out of this world visitors among us?

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears The Movie

The Burgeron Family had come together and created a movie of the classic fairytale – Goldilocks and the 3 Bears after reviews of the audio version were over the top positive.

As virtual attendance to the festival is growing and becoming the option of choice, NanaLou, Great grandson DJ, Mama Boo, Cousin Ron, Cousin Bernie and some help from Dr. M and the famous Headless Inskspots (Viv and David) pooled their best and unique talents and come together with a short film.

After MamaBoo had taken the lead and pulled the audio together, Bernie followed with the video edition.

Cousin Ron was busy prompting with all sorts of new ideas – adding additional sound effects (like snoring and spoons!) and Dr. M suggested including more artists by asking if the Headless Inkspots were contacted.

Along with the final movie outcome, intro and ending clips for future Family Story Time creations are available for anyone to use. If you would like to use them – just contact Bernie or the PR team.

The other options created are in this folder.

As a virtual attendance participant be sure to check out the video stories all the artists in residence – Sapphos and Cousin Ron have posted quite a few wonderful stories and audios for enjoyment.  And watch for the debut of stories and music for the adults on “The Porch”.

The festival is heading into week 3 and looks like more and more is coming available each day for festival goers!

The Porch: Celtic Series Poster- All around the region!

The Porch: Celtic Series 2015 Poster

NanaLou has again made sure all family is entertained and enriched during the summer retreat. The Family Story Time under Dr. M’s Treehouse is underway and the kids are happy! They await the next story with great anticipation.

After the kids are settled into bed, the adults gather at “The Porch”, usually around sunset to share, jabber, and socialize. There are some pre-scheduled performances and also just some impromtu improv that can be stories, music and much more!

NanaLou has told us that there is a story and song brewing that involves our own Anna Cow and her admirer – Super Moo.

To make sure all family and friends know the debut is coming, a poster has been created by the PR team and will be put up around the county. Virtual attendance is encouraged for non-family so that you have the best seat in the house. Watch for the announcement when it will be available!

Press Release: Burgeron106 Story Time Production – Not a Number

Bernie and KathyO have been busy trying to keep up with PR requests and needs and worked on a press release to be sent out to announce the #Burgeron106 Story Time series for 24×7 enjoyment. (at end of post). There is actually a format for these sorts of things for them to be accepted by media outlets. Guess the town grapevine is only good locally. In the past just bringing out some of the family brew around the campfire would spread the news. So new skills are being worked on by the PR department.

Why a Virtual Attendance Option?

Well – traffic has been heavy and county resources are being maxed out – all due to the celebrity status of the Artists in Residence. Just 10 days into the summer festival and so much has been created, drawing even more attention to the region! In order to keep things safe and manageable for county residents promotion of virtual attendance is being pushed to the forefront so nothing is missed that wants to be seen or heard by interested visitors to the festival.

Add to that – The recent information leak that Anna Cow is expected to win this year’s Daisy Award for best actress in a fairy tale! The region is buzzing with paparazzi and reporters in addition to festival goers. It’s getting crazy around here! It still needs to be a summer retreat.Daisy Awards

Artists have been churning out art faster than butter! Here are only a few so far, with too many to list. Please explore and discover through the recent posts. You won’t be disappointed.

The PR team is also working behind the scenes to make sure residents of The Village of Prisoner106 receive information and access to Bovine Fairy Tale activities in order to remind them, “You still have a choice. You can still salvage your right to be individuals. Your rights to truth and free thought! Reject this false world of Number Two . . . reject it NOW!!”.

Through the FairyTales  Village residents will be able to uncover information – real information and remain independent persons if they have not yet been processed into being a number.

The PR team is also on the watch for morning announcements created for The Village by Artists in Residence which send messages to those who are still hanging on to independence.

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears video production to be released week of July 14 after final editing and music inclusion by @VivianRolfe and @dkernohan for intro and credits. Here is the news release for sending to any media outlets available.

Artists In Residence – Badge it!

In order to make sure that the Artists in Residence are easily identified from the festival visitors, the Burgeron PR department created a badge of identification that will help festival goers easily determine the work sites of the Artists involved. Visitors can look for the badge on sites to be assured an artist is a real Bovine County Fairy Tale Artist in Residence.

Artists In ResidenceGet your Badges HERE.
There are 4 sizes for you to choose from. All are the same GIF – only dimensions are different. The width size is in the file name.

Bernie and I are honored to be PR for the festival – but we still have some learning to do in order to become more timely and responsive. We are glad we got the badge completed before the end of the first week of the summer festival as the artists begin arriving. Festival goers will be able to plan their itineraries of events by locating displayed badges.

Those who are interested in the Rube Goldberg process Bernie and I managed our way through can see the details here.

The Bovine County Fairy Tale Festival Summer is underway and is causing quite an influx of activity to our quiet county this summer of 2015. The Burgeron Family has been arriving and will continue to come and go over the next weeks. NanaLou has organized and provided some “snow fences” for the artists in residence to focus on creation rather than day to day management. This is a summer retreat after all and should be about creating and moving ahead on one’s own path. But having some bendable fences creates opportunities for collaboration.

Since the grand event of Nanalou’s birthday celebration last year, many of the Burgeron family have reached celebrity status. The Trailer song went viral and drew a huge fan base and Cousin Ron’s time cycle is a primary attraction of interest. Anna Cow having an out of world adventure also brought attention to the county and a group of interested followers. All these events have created a water fall (almost like the flood of ’57!) of interested people finding the Fairy Tale Festival as a reason for a visit to the area.

All contributing Artists are encouraged to send an Avatar photo, name, and any other links or info they would like to share to be posted on the Bovine County Fairy Tale Festival PR Website. The PR group knows you are busy creating and does not want to burden you with tangental creations while you are working thru the Fairy Tale Workshops. But as always – if there is a promo you want to work on or add to your work on behalf of the festival please let us know so that we can work with you! Our department is mostly based on volunteers so the more the better.

You can send files and any info to burgeronpr@gmail.com, leave a message in the comments here, or Tweet a message thru the hashtag #burgeron106 to connect.

Bob’s My Uncle!???

Bernie

Bernie (given name Bernice) has discovered she is a Burgeron.

Bernie is of Dutch heritage. Her mother passed away shortly after childbirth. Her father found himself not able to care for her or her older brother and sister and left Holland for the United States with the children. Her father knew that some of his family was in the United States in the midwest. He had lost his own parents early in life and was not sure of his lineage. He found the name Burgeron on some papers but never found the links or family.

Bernie being an infant required more care than he could provide and a family in Wisconsin adopted her by the name of Klutenburg. Her brother and sister remained in Michigan with their father, but maintained contact with Bernie and connected as young adults.

More research and finding out is needed by Bernie to find out where Burgeron comes into her own story and how she can connect with the family as well as tell them about her life up until now and meeting them.

She is headed to Bovine Texas as she heard the Burgeron Family has a summer retreat each year. She has already found work with the Bovine County public relations department to help cover expenses. She figures working on the festival promotion will help her discover and learn about the Burgerons and the history – and make some history with them this summer as well.

Here are some pictures of Bernie from younger days. She is working on her profile picture for the PR department and hopes to share it soon.

and wow – already finding out that Bob Burgeron is her uncle!!
